NATIONAL BANK OF MALAWI AWARDS SCHOLARSHIPS TO STUDENTS AND INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER LEARNING

Yesterday, I represented the Vice Chancellor of Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST) at an event where National Bank of Malawi (NBM) announced its new initiative. The bank will support 70 students from higher education institutions, including MUST, UNIMA, MUBAS, KUHEs, MZUNI, LUANAR, and CUMINA, through scholarships. The initiative, known as the NBM Scholarships and Best Performing Students Awards, is valued at K270 million, with plans to double the amount next year.

NBM's CEO, Harold Jiya, mentioned that the bank will also award up to five Dean's List students from each of the seven institutions annually. On behalf of the universities, LUANAR’s Deputy Vice Chancellor, Agness Mwangwera, emphasized that many students are capable and shouldn't have to drop out due to financial challenges.

Secretary of Education, Mangani Chilala Katundu, praised the initiative for aligning with Malawi's Vision 2063 goal of human capital development.

A big thank you to National Bank of Malawi for supporting the education sector through this great initiative!
