This week was truly remarkable. On October 17, 2024, we celebrated the Malawi University of Science and Technology’s (MUST) 5th Congregation, marking not only our graduation ceremony but also a decade of excellence as a university. It’s been 10 years of growth, achievement, and a continuous commitment to academic and institutional excellence.
We were honored to have His Excellency Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, President of Malawi and Chancellor of MUST, preside over the congregation. He commended the ongoing developments at MUST, including the upcoming teaching hospital and the remarkable innovations by our students and alumni.
As the Executive Dean of the Bingu School of Culture and Heritage (BISCH), I was thrilled to present our graduates in African Musicology and Indigenous Knowledge Systems and Practices, as well as those completing the postgraduate diploma in Strategic Studies, a program run in partnership with the Malawi Defence Force. This year’s graduates of cohort 2 of the Strategic Studies program received their diplomas at MUST, following the graduation of cohort 1 at the Senior Command and Staff College in Salima. It was an inspiring and unforgettable event.
I am incredibly proud of our BISCH graduates. I’m confident they will bring fresh innovation and positive change to the creative and cultural industries. A big thank you to the staff who have helped shape them into the leaders they are today.
To all graduates of MUST, know that you are a product of excellence, and the world is yours to conquer. As you move forward, remember that you carry the values of innovation, excellence, entrepreneurship, professionalism, and Umunthu. Congratulations to the Class of 2024!
