On Wednesday, 16th April, I had the privilege of joining the Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST) team as we welcomed a delegation from the National Research Foundation (NRF) of South Africa and the Future Earth Africa hub.
We were proud to celebrate the news that MUST has been selected as the lead institution for the Southern Africa node on Sustainability Research, under the Future Earth Africa initiative. This node, led by Professor David Mkwambisi, marks a significant milestone not only for MUST but for the entire region as we aim to deepen sustainability science and regional collaboration.
During the meeting, sub-nodes from Botswana, Namibia, and Zambia shared updates on their progress, highlighting innovative work already underway. The discussion was fruitful, offering us deeper insight into NRF’s priorities and the Future Earth Africa agenda.
There’s so much to look forward to as this network grows and begins to shape sustainability solutions tailored to our unique contexts.
Stay tuned — exciting work lies ahead.
